Description

Stibnite is a fascinating and striking mineral that is primarily composed of antimony sulfide (Sb₂S₃). It's known for its metallic luster and dramatic, often needle-like crystal formations. Stibnite is relatively soft, with a Mohs hardness of 2.  This makes it easy to scratch, which is typical for sulfide minerals. Stibnite is usually found in hydrothermal veins in igneous and sedimentary rocks. Complete acicular crystals forming clusters of flowers can be quite valuable, and the mineral’s needle-like crystals make it a visually impressive specimen for display.
