How We Select
Every VDE piece begins with careful observation. We select jewelry materials and mineral specimens for their natural character, visual integrity, and suitability for the intended design or collection.
Natural Character
We look for features that make each stone distinct, including growth patterns, inclusions, texture, and natural variation.
Color and Clarity
We consider color balance, saturation, translucency, luster, and how these qualities appear under ordinary light.
Formation and Structure
For mineral specimens, crystal habit, matrix relationships, formation details, and structural interest are central to selection.
Provenance When Verified
Locality and provenance are stated only when supported by reliable information. Unverified origin claims are not presented as fact.
Condition and Craftsmanship
We assess stability, visible condition, finishing, drilling, setting, and construction so that each piece is appropriate for display or wear.
Natural Treatments When Known
Known treatments or enhancements are disclosed when that information is available. Natural variation is expected and is not considered a defect.
